Vicksburg Junior High boys’ basketball team came out with a 35-29 win over Pearl on Monday.

Jaquez Jones popped the game off with a 3-pointer. By the end of the first quarter, things were tied 9-9.

With shots coming from Jordan Clay and Marlyn Foy in the second quarter, the intense game was tied at 15 going into halftime.

The Gators had a tough third quarter as Pearl took a 24-18 lead.

Going into the fourth, things took a change.

Foy and Nic Carson stepped up big in the fourth quarter with VJHS down by seven when Head Coach Jerdon Hardiman called a timeout to make some adjustments.

“I’ve always told my boy that we don’t stop playing until the horn blows,” Hardiman said.

That’s just what the Gators did as they grabbed control of the game and pulled off the win.

Clay led with 11 points and Carson added 10 on the night. Foy scored nine points and Jones contributed five. Wallyss Curry led with six rebounds.

The Gators will travel to Northwest Rankin on Thursday.
