VJHS defeated Pearl 48-0 on Tuesday

Vicksburg Junior High School started their football season off with a 48-0 win over Pearl on Tuesday.
The Gators took a 22-0 lead by the end of the first quarter and was up by 36 at halftime. VJHS came out scoring again in the second while as they easily ran through the Pirates’ defense.
Deonta Selvy Jr. threw two touchdown passes. Javid Scott had a total of four touchdowns and Jaylen Stewart also scored as well as Corbin Walker.
Defensively, Walker, Kolten Thomas, Daylon Washington and Jaylen Butler all caught an interception. Mesiah Sims caught a pick 6 while Daveon Beard had one sack and Jaden Thomas brought in multiple tackles.
VJHS will travel to Northwest Rankin on Tuesday.
Ninth grade:
The Gators took a 48-26 loss to Pearl. Jordan Clay threw for 205 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 101 yards. Nick Carson had 11 catches, two touchdowns and 111 yards. Wallyss Curry had five catches for 127 yards and one touchdown. He also had 83 rushing yards with a 99-yard td reception.
Patrick Moore ended things with one catch for 67 yards.
