VJHS defeated WCJHS 45-41 on Thursday

Vicksburg Junior High School boy’s basketball team grabbed a 45-41 over Warren Central Junior High on Thursday.

The Gators took a 12-6 first-quarter lead as Nick Carson and Jordan Clay both knocked down shots. By halftime, Jacquez Jones and Corderrion Valentine hit 3-pointers to put VJH up 27-16.

The Vikings began to make a comeback in the fourth quarter as C. Walker and D. Gibbs hit a few shots but VJHS managed to pull off the close win.

Marlyn Foy led the Gators with 13 points followed by Jones who added 12. Clay finished with nine on the board and Carson put up five.

Walker scored 13 points for WC and Gibbs added 11. Blake Caruthers and Nash Morgan both scored five points.
