VPD adds details to Monday’s Halls Ferry Road shooting and reports a business burglary

On Monday, Aug. 10, at 9:03 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Halls Ferry Road and Pemberton Square Boulevard for a report of shots fired. Witnesses stated they observed the passenger of a vehicle fire several shots as it passed through the intersection.

One victim, a 19-year-old male, was taken to Merit Health River Region in a private vehicle with a gunshot wound to his right thigh. He was later transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center for treatment.

A second victim, suffering from cuts to her arms from a shattered window, was treated and released at a hospital in Louisiana.

This investigation is ongoing.

In an unrelated incident, Magnolia Mobile Homes, 1333 Highway 61 South, was the scene of a business burglary Monday. Officers responded to the scene at 6:43 a.m. where the manager stated someone stole several stoves valued at $400 each and refrigerators valued at $900 each.
