VPD announce arrests in drug, theft, firearm cases
On Tuesday, the Vicksburg Police Department announced the arrest of several individuals connected to various crimes.
Man in Custody for Auto Theft
Adrian Acuff, 34, of Memphis, Tennessee, was arrested Saturday, Febr. 11, after he was seen stealing a 2001 GMC Yukon from the Circle K convenience store at 725 Highway 61 South.
The vehicle was located and stopped on Washington Street and Acuff was arrested at the scene.
Appearing in Vicksburg Municipal Court on Monday, February 13, 2023, Judge Angela Carpenter set his bond at $50,000 and bound him over to the Warren County Grand Jury.
Louisiana Resident Charged with Narcotics
Jeremy Devanie, 23, of Alexandria, Louisiana, was stopped for a traffic violation on Highway 61 South on Monday, Feb. 13, 2023.
Officers noticed a strong odor of marijuana and discovered approximately 24.8 grams of marijuana along with approximately 1.08 grams of methamphetamine inside the vehicle. Devanie was also in possession of a 9mm handgun.
Charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, with an enhanced penalty for the associated firearm possession, Devanie is being held without bond until his initial appearance in Vicksburg Municipal Court.
Woman in Custody for Drug Possession, Child Abuse
Veronica Lewis, 58, of Vicksburg was arrested Friday, Feb. 10, 2023, after officers responding to her residence on a narcotics complaint discovered a pill bottle containing fentanyl inside the house.
She was charged with one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance and two counts of Non-Violent Child Abuse due to the proximity of the drugs to small children who live in the residence.
In Vicksburg Municipal Court on Monday, February 13, 2023, Judge Angela Carpenter set Lewis’ bond at $140,000 and bound her over to the Warren County Grand Jury.
Charged with Firearm Possession
Marquise Eastman, 31, of Utica, Mississippi, was taken into custody Sunday, February 12, 2023, after officers determined he had fired several shots from a handgun in the parking lot of the Parkwood South Apartments, 510 Bazinsky Road.
Eastman was charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
In Vicksburg Municipal Court on Monday, February 13, 2023, Eastman received a $30,000 bond from Judge Angela Carpenter and was bound over to the Warren County Grand Jury.
Woman Arrested for Absconding with Ankle Monitor
Cutreina Wright-Felix, 43, of Vicksburg was arrested Monday, February 13, 2023, on a warrant for Embezzlement Under Contract.
Her charge is the result of her not complying with the stipulations of the house arrest order she received in Vicksburg Municipal Court.
She is being held without bond until her initial appearance in Vicksburg Municipal Court.
