VPD arrests two suspects for shooting on Redbone Road
The Vicksburg Police Department responded to a call Wednesday, Oct. 22, regarding a shooting in the 600 block of Redbone Road. The resident of the home said that two suspects shot into her house after a heated argument.
The suspects, Freddie Walker, 27, and Ashley Hudson, 32, were taken into VPD custody later in the day and charged with one count of shooting into an occupied dwelling.
Walker and Hudson will make their initial appearances in the Vicksburg Municipal Court Oct. 24 at 10 a.m.
Also on Oct. 22, Vicksburg Police responded to a call regarding grand larceny at Atwood Chevrolet, 2339 N. Frontage Road. A radio with a navigation system was stolen from a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck.
On Oct. 20 around 9 p.m., VPD responded to a call regarding a failed break in the 200 block of Northview Drive.
The homeowner said two men attempted to break into his home, and he confronted them. One suspect hit him in the shoulder with an unnamed object before both fled.
The resident was admitted to Merit Health River Region where he was treated and released.

Felony Driving Under the Influence
On October 19, an officer stopped a 2001 Cadillac Deville, which was weaving in the road near Washington and Jackson streets. The driver, Charles Howery, of 1133 Sylvan Cove, Yazoo City, Miss., was taken into custody for driving under the influence. Howery appeared before Judge Penny Lawson in Vicksburg Municipal Court on Monday, October 21, and was bound over to the Warren County Grand Jury on a $20,000.00 bond.
Auto Burglary
On October 19, a complainant reported at the police station that someone had stolen two Lenora Think Pads from his 2006 Lexus. The theft occurred in the 3200 block of Clay Street.
On October 20, 2019, Vicksburg Police officers responded to All My Children Daycare, 722 Belmont Street, for a complaint of an Auto Burglary. The complainant reported that someone had stolen her purse from her car.
On October 20, 2019, Vicksburg Police officers responded to the 1600 block of Cherry Street, for a complaint of an Auto Burglary. The complainant reported that someone had stolen a 9mm Glock handgun from her 200 Toyota Camry.
Shots Fired
On October 19, officers responded to the area of First North and South streets in reference to shots having been fired in the vicinity. When they arrived, the officers saw no signs of suspicious activity.
On October 20, officers responded to Mulvhill Drive in reference to shots having been fired in the vicinity. When they arrived, the officers saw no signs of suspicious activity.
On October 20, officers responded to Patton Street in reference to shots having been fired in the vicinity. When they arrived, the officers saw no signs of suspicious activity.
On October 21, officers responded to the area of Bowmar Avenue and Letitia Street in reference to shots having been fired in the vicinity. When they arrived, the officers saw no signs of suspicious activity.
On October 21, 2019, officers responded to the 400 block of Locust Street in reference to shots having been fired in the vicinity. When they arrived, the officers saw no signs of suspicious activity.
Malicious Mischief by Gunfire
On October 20, officers responded to 574 Highway 61 North in reference to shots fired into a vehicle. The complainant reported that someone shot out the back window of his 2014 Chevrolet Impala.
Motor Vehicle Accidents
On October 21, at 1:13 p.m. officers responded to the report of a jack-knifed 18-wheeler on its side on Interstate 20 westbound near Wisconsin Avenue. Minor injuries were reported in the accident, but the roadway was not cleared until 8:36 pm.
On October 21, at 1:27 p.m. a second motor vehicle accident was reported on I-20 westbound, this time at Indiana Avenue. This accident involved five vehicles, and one occupant was transported to Merit Health/River Region.
On October 21, at 1:34 p.m. a motor vehicle accident was reported on I-20 westbound near Clay Street. This was a two-vehicle accident and one occupant was transported to Merit Health/River Region.
On October 21 at 1:43 p.m. another motor vehicle accident was reported on I-20 westbound near Clay Street. This involved an 18-wheeler that jack-knifed but no injuries were reported.
