VPD Crime Report – June 1, 2011

Martha Street where there had been a report of shots fired.  Upon arrival it was discovered that 20 year old Robert Banks had suffered a single and fatal gun shot wound to the chest. After a brief investigation police officers arrested James Ransom, 19, at his home 1717 Martha Street.  Ransom has been charged with murder and is currently being held without bond in relation to the murder charge.  He had been free on bond and awaiting trial on Armed Robbery charges when he was arrested. Lt. Stewart said that investigators have not been able to recover the murder weapon at this time. He also said that further charges and additional arrests could be forthcoming as this investigation progresses.  We will keep you updated on this situation as it develops.]]]]> ]]>
