VPD incident report: Auto burglaries and a stolen handgun

Officers with the Vicksburg Police Department reported the following incidents for Monday, Aug. 3.

Three auto burglaries occurred Monday, all on unlocked vehicles:

  • At 4:07 a.m. officers responded to the 100 block of Elizabeth Circle. The victim stated someone entered his Kia Sorrento and stole $250 and a Ruger .22-gauge pistol.
  • At 8:16 a.m. officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of Elizabeth Circle, where the victim reported someone entered a 2016 Hyundai and stole $5,000 cash and a 9mm pistol from the glove box.
  • Officers responded to an address in the 1300 block of Chambers Street at 5:31 p.m where two vehicles had been burglarized. The victim indicated someone stole a men’s silver quartz watch valued at $1,500 and $150 in gift cards from her vehicles.

At 9:45 p.m. officers responded to an apartment at Oakmont Manor Apartments, 225 Cain Ridge Road, in reference to the theft of a firearm. The resident stated he had some acquaintances visit earlier in the week and after they left, he noticed his .45-caliber Springfield handgun was missing.
