VPD incident report: burglaries, theft and aggravated assault

Officers with the Vicksburg Police Department responded to the following incidents this week.

On Monday, July 6, at 4:50 p.m. officers responded to Vicksburg Family Dental, 3425 Pemberton Square Blvd., because of an auto burglary. The victim reported someone broke into a Ford F-250 truck and took a wallet and two handguns.

The Family Dollar at 1305 Mission 66 was the scene of a business burglary Tuesday, July 7. At 6:14 a.m. a patrol officer discovered the front door glass of the store broken out. It is unknown what was taken at this time.

Officers responded to Rail Crew Xpress, 1400 Levee St. Tuesday at 6:07 p.m. for a reported theft of a vehicle. The complainant stated a 2017 Toyota Sienna was stolen around 10 p.m. Monday, July 6.

Police are investigating an aggravated assault that occurred early Wednesday morning, July 8, in the 400 block of Locust Street.

At 1:01 a.m. officers responded to Merit Health River Region where a black male had shown up with a gunshot wound to the inside of his left leg near the knee. He was taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center for treatment. His condition is unknown.
