VPD investigating several recent thefts, burglaries
The Vicksburg Police Department is investigating several crimes which have taken place recently involving burglaries and thefts relating to automobiles.
Auto Burglary
On Friday, Sep. 16, at 2:39 p.m., officers were dispatched to an address in the 2900 block of Oak Street in reference to an auto burglary. The victim stated someone entered a 2016 Nissan Altima and stole approximately sixty dollars in change from the center console. The vehicle had not been locked.
Auto Theft
On Saturday, Sep. 17, at 5:34 a.m., officers responded to a reported auto theft of a 2007 GMC Yukon from the Hope Street apartments. The victim stated the keys were left in the ignition.
Theft from Vehicle
On Sunday, Sep. 18, at 9:42 a.m., officers responded to Mount Zion Church, 920 5th North Street, in reference to an auto burglary. The victim reported someone entered his Ford F-150 pickup and took his wallet containing three-hundred dollars in cash and a Ruger 380 handgun. The vehicle had been left unlocked.
Auto Burglary / Malicious Mischief
On Monday, Sep. 19, at 12:28 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Ameristar Hotel, 4155 Washington Street, in reference to an auto burglary. The victim stated someone entered a Chevrolet Silverado 3500 truck that was parked in the front parking lot of the hotel. A 17-inch HP laptop and a Nikon D70-100 camera were stolen. Approximate valued of the missing items is $2,200.00. In addition, the driver’s door was damaged.
Theft of Vehicle Parts
On Monday, Sep. 19, at 7:52 a.m., officers responded to Magnolia Estates, 1333 Highway 61 South, in reference to a theft. The complainant reported someone had cut catalytic converters off four company vehicles at that location.
Theft of Vehicle Parts
On Monday, Sep. 19, at 8:03 a.m., officers were dispatched to George Carr Buick GMC, 2950 South Frontage Road, in reference to a theft. The complainant stated someone had cut catalytic converters off vehicles on the property.
Auto Burglary
On Wednesday, Sep. 21, at 12:13 p.m., officers the Vicksburg City Pool, 900 Lee Street, in reference to an auto burglary. The victim advised someone entered the unlocked Toyota Camry and stole a swim bag with towels inside, a pink mace spray, and medication.
Auto Theft
On Thursday, Sep. 22, at 5:02 a.m., officers responded to an address in the 800 block of Speed Street for a vehicle theft. The vehicle owner stated that someone stole a 2005 Pontiac Vibe overnight. The vehicle was not locked.
