VPD looking for armed robbery suspect and reports the theft of two handguns

The Vicksburg Police Department is looking for help in identifying an armed robbery suspect.

The robbery occurred at the BG Junior convenience store, 4110 East Clay St., Saturday, Sept. 12, at around 9:28 p.m. Store clerks told the responding officers that a black male dressed in all black with a black bandana covering his face pointed a gun at them demanding money. The thief fled on foot with $170 stolen from the cash registers.

Anyone with information about the identity of this suspect is asked to contact the Vicksburg Police Department at 601-636-2511 or Crime Stoppers at 601-355-8477.

In an unrelated incident that occurred Sunday, Sept. 13, around 8:30 a.m., the Quality Inn at 3975 South Frontage Road was the site of the theft of two handguns.

The victim reported that a female acquaintance stole a Hi Point .38-caliber pistol and a 9-mm Smith &Wesson pistol from his room.
