VPD makes two arrests for discharging firearms within city limits

Officers with the Vicksburg Police Department made two arrests for discharging a firearm within city limits in unrelated cases this past weekend.

On Saturday, May 23, at 2:26 a.m. an officer saw Hewitt Mitchell firing multiple shots from a 2018 Nissan Altima.

The officer made contact with the vehicle and arrested Mitchell.

On Sunday, May 24, at 2:34 a.m., officers were dispatched to Morgan’s Chevron, 4210 Halls Ferry Road, in response to a shots-fired call. They arrested Jalesia Taylor at the scene.
