VPD officers make two arrests and investigate grand larceny

Vicksburg police officers made two arrests at the same address in unrelated incidents Tuesday.

Officers arrested James Jester, 50, of Halls Ferry Road on Fog Drive Tuesday, June 30, on one charge of possession of methamphetamine.

Officers of the Criminal Investigation Division and Narcotics/NET Team were on the scene in an unrelated matter at the time.

They arrested John Williamson, 39, of Fog Drive at his home Tuesday as part of an ongoing investigation. He is charged with one count of receiving stolen property related to a spate of commercial burglaries at Red Dot Storage located at 3434 Wisconsin Ave.

Both Jester and Williamson appeared before Judge Angela Carpenter in Vicksburg Municipal Court Wednesday, July 1. Jester received a $5,000 bond and Williamson a $7,500 bond. Carpenter bound both men over to the Warren County grand jury.

The VPD also reported an incident of grand larceny that occurred Monday, June 29, at Tri-State Tires, 2209 Washington St. When officers responded to the scene at 10:39 a.m., the complainant reported someone stole a U-Haul auto transport valued at $9,000.
