VPD reports five charged in recent crimes

Five individuals have been charged with recent crimes, according to the Vicksburg Police Department.

Weapon and drug possession

George Moore (VPD)

George Moore, 25, of Vicksburg was arrested around 1 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 24, 2022, after he attempted to flee on foot from a traffic stop on Washington Street. He was found to be in possession of two handguns, marijuana and cocaine.

Moore was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a controlled substance. He appeared before Judge Penny Lawson on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2022, when he was bound over to the Warren County Grand Jury on a $35,000 bond.

Kidnapping/cocaine possession

Terren Carter

Terren Carter (VPD)Terren Carter, 41, of Vicksburg appeared in Vicksburg Municipal Court on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2022, facing charges of kidnapping and possession of cocaine stemming from a standoff with police on First North Street on Dec. 25, 2022.

Judge Penny Lawson set his bond at $115,000 and bound him over to the Warren County Grand Jury.

Embezzlement

John Gore

John Gore (VPD)

John Gore, 66, of Collins, Mississippi, was taken into custody on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2022, charged with embezzlement.

He appeared in Vicksburg Municipal Court on Friday, Dec. 30, 2022, where Judge Penny Lawson bound him over to the Warren County Grand Jury on a $50,000 bond.

Shoplifting

David Ball (VPD)

David Ball, Jr., 38, of Vicksburg was arrested Friday, Dec. 30, 2022, charged with felony shoplifting. He is accused of stealing silver necklaces from Hobby Lobby, 3505 Pemberton Square Boulevard.

Ball appeared before Judge Penny Lawson in Vicksburg Municipal Court on Friday, Dec. 30, 2022, where he received a $25,000 bond and was bound over to the Warren County Grand Jury.

Aggravated assault/shooting into an occupied vehicle

Marquez Tucker

Marquez Tucker (VPD)

On Sunday, Jan. 1, at 12:03 a.m., officers were dispatched to an address in the 1800 block of MacArthur Drive for a shooting. The victim reported that his girlfriend’s brother had shot him in his right hand and then shot at his 2000 Honda Accord as he was attempting to leave the residence.

Marquez Tucker, 24, was arrested at the scene on a charge of aggravated assault. He is being held without bond until his initial appearance in Vicksburg Municipal Court on Wednesday, Jan. 4.
