VPD responds to several thefts over weekend, one involving stolen firearm
The Vicksburg Police Department responded to several calls of theft over the weekend, one of which involved a stolen firearm and ammunition.
On May 13 at around 2:34 a.m. Vicksburg police officers responded to a residence on Second North Street in reference to a theft. The complaint reported multiple items were taken from the home and force entry was made to gain access to the residence.
At 11:30 p.m. on May 13, Vicksburg police received a call to Baum Street in reference to a motor vehicle theft. The victim stated the keys were left inside the truck but the truck was locked. The report states the incident occurred between 5 p.m. and 11 p.m.
Police recovered the stolen vehicle, a 2020 Ford F-150, at around 12:42 a.m. on May 15.
At 10:10 a.m. on May 15, a report was made at the Vicksburg Police Department of a theft from a vehicle. The reporting party stated the incident occurred while the vehicle was parked at the Riverwalk hotel on May 13.
Multiple items were listed as stolen, including a handgun and ammunition. A laptop was also reported as stolen.
Surveillance video potentially exists of the burglary. The incident is still under investigation.
