VPD responded to shootings and burglaries this past weekend

The Vicksburg Police Department responded to a residence on Ethel Street regarding a shooting Oct. 26. 

Upon arrival, several witnesses reported numerous shots fired in the vicinity. Two bullet holes were found in the front door of a residence. There was one injury, and the victim was transported to Merit Health River Region with a bullet wound to the thigh.

The Vicksburg Police Department also reported these incidents today:

Auto Burglary

Oct. 27, an auto burglary was reported at the police station. The complainant said that someone broke into his 2008 GMC Sierra near the intersection of First North and Harrison streets. A .40 caliber handgun and his wallet were missing from the vehicle.

Oct. 27, VPD officers responded to a call at Saving Soul MB Church, 522 Locust St., regarding an auto burglary. Upon arrival police were told that a purse and .38 caliber handgun were stolen from the complainants vehicle.

Auto Theft

On Oct. 27, officers responded to Adams Street regarding a missing 2003 Ford Mustang.

Residential Burglary

Oct. 27, VPD officers responded to a residential burglary call in the 900 block of Polk Street.  The homeowner stated that a PlayStation 4 and one game had been taken.

Shooting into an Unoccupied Vehicle

Oct. 26, VPD officers responded to the 2700 block of Alcorn Drive  in regards to a shooting. Upon arrival there was evidence that shots had been fired into a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse.

Shots Fired 

On Oct. 27, VPD officers responded to the Drummond and Realty Streets in reference to shots fired.  Upon arrival officer saw no evidence of a shooting.
