Walter B. Hallberg Jr., 1929 – 2020

Walter B. Hallberg Jr. died Friday, June 12, 2020. He was 91.
Mr. Hallberg was born in Vicksburg to the late Walter B. Hallberg, Sr. and Mary Ava Hallberg. He was graduate of Carr Central High School. He served on the Development Foundation Board for Hinds Community College for many years, and the Walter B. Hallberg, Jr. building was named in his honor. He also had a lifelong affiliation with Porter’s Chapel Academy. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He owned and operated Waggener Auto Parts from 1971 until 1997.
In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Sinquefield Hallberg, and his son Mark Harlan Hallberg.
He is survived by his son Walter B. Hallberg, III (Mary) of Vicksburg, and his daughter, Ava H. Duncan (Jerry), also of Vicksburg; eight grandchildren Walter B. Hallberg IV, Eric Hallberg (Cappe), Melanie Hallberg Field (Trey), Jeffrey Duncan (Misty), Diane Duncan Hargon (Josh), Harlan Hallberg (Haley), Cody Hallberg (Megan) and Mallory Hallberg; 16 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; a sister, Alene Hallberg Dabney (Lucius) of Vicksburg; and two brothers, Jimmy Hallberg (Patsy) of Picayune, Mississippi, and Richard Hallberg (Stephanie) of Roswell, Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2020, at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home at 5000 Indiana Ave. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the hour of service. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Walter B. Hallberg IV, Eric Hallberg, Trey Field, Josh Hargon, Tommy Hoben and James Barnette.
