Wanted kidnapper commits suicide after gunfire exchange with deputies in Rankin County

A man wanted for kidnapping committed suicide after an exchange of gunfire with a Rankin County deputies Monday morning, WLBT reports.

According to Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey, on Monday, Rankin County deputies pulled over a vehicle for speeding. During the stop, officers discovered the driver was wanted for kidnapping charges out of Florida. He was considered armed and dangerous.

An exchange of gunfire ensued between the driver and deputies. The driver reportedly turned the gun on himself during the firefight and committed suicide.

Two children were found to be inside the car at the time.

No one else involved was reported to have been injured.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is investigating the case. The name of the driver has not been released.
