Warren Central High School football team came away with a 3-0 victory over the defending state champs Madison Central in a scrimmage on Friday.

The Vikings got the ball first as Trey Hall and Mark Gray picked up a couple of first downs to move the chains. The Jaguars eventually forced WC to punt.

As the Vikings defense took the field, they quickly forced MC to punt.

Hall caught a couple of passes from Jack Wright when WC got the back along with Darius Carter who picked up some positive rushing yards behind lead blockers Beau Davis, Brandon Snowden, and Jon Ward. The Vikings would eventually punt again after Wright was sacked.

WC’s defense stepped up once again where the Jaguars converted on a fourth down and failed.

Wright came out with good protection from the offensive line and hit Maddox Lynch for a 40 yard pass. As the Vikings made their way down the field, Hall caught a quick pass from Wright and scored a touchdown but the referees ruled him down at the 15 due to his helmet coming off.

The good field position set up a 32 yard field goal from Jonah Artman to give the Vikings a 3-0 lead.

After the rain delay both teams took the field the Viking defense didn’t hold back on the Jaguars as Garrett Orgas put a hard hit on MC’s player. WC managed to continue to put pressure on the quarterback as time expired with WC taking the win.

The Viking defense showed out completely in the win as they never let MC get in field goal range.

The Vikings will play against Forest Hill in the Red Carpet Bowl on Friday.
