Warren Central Vikings in round one playoff game tonight

The Warren Central High School Vikings will travel to face the Oxford High School Chargers tonight in the first round of class 6A playoff.

The Vikings will be the underdogs in this game but the Chargers will still have to fight hard for a victory over the Vikings strong defense.

Oxford has only suffered one loss this season: to No. 1 ranked Starkville. In their game against Starkville a few weeks ago, the Vikings led 17-6 at halftime, but ultimately lost 50-24.

Senior Malik Sims, who leads the Viking’s defense, has given some of the best offenses trouble this season. Warren Central has struggled offensively but were still able to pull off some big wins on the way to the playoffs.

Oxford is led by senior quarterback John Meagher who has not lost a home game this season.

Oxford (10-1) is coming off of a 14-3 win against Tupelo last week, while the Vikings suffered a 35-6 loss against South Panola.

The game will be held tonight at Oxford High School starting at 7 p.m.
