weather highlights

Highlights from the Emergency Management meeting on Mar. 1.

“There is a chance for some showers and thunderstorms today. There is also an enhanced risk for severe storms overnight into early Friday morning. All modes of severe weather are possible. Damaging winds are the primary threat and there is a wind advisory for tonight and Friday. We encourage everyone to ensure that your alert systems can wake you up and that your shelter plans are in place now,” stated Warren County Emergency Management.

As we move into Thursday night into Friday morning, the risk of tornadoes with damaging winds will increase. The Vicksburg area will experience an enhanced risk of damaging winds up to 70 mph. This is a serious threat, so please stay aware and be prepared to take shelter if necessary.

In addition to these threats, flash flooding is also possible. Please avoid driving through flooded areas and stay aware of the potential for rising water levels.

We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as needed. Please stay safe and stay informed.
