Warren County expected to have severe weather late afternoon, overnight

The Warren County area is expected to have severe weather move through the area, starting late afternoon and continuing overnight.

Warren County Emergency Director John Elfer stated severe weather is expected to hit the Warren County area between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. and continue overnight. Among the risks associated with the incoming storms are strong winds, downpours and possible hail.

“The wind, as we’ve seen over the past several weeks, has really been the biggest issue. Spin up tornadoes are certainly possible,” stated Elfer.

Warren County has seen its share of severe weather over the past few weeks. On Mar. 30, a tornado touched down at Eagle Lake, causing damage and debris to litter yards, roadways and trees.

Last week, another storm front traveled toward the area but luckily Warren County missed the brunt of the storm.

“We’re right in the middle of the time of the year, in Mississippi, in this particular part of the country, where we’ve had these severe storms and this is no different than it has been the last couple of weeks,” stated Elfer during an interview last week.

The storm is expected to let up for a while Wednesday morning, before continuing that afternoon and overnight again.  Elfer strongly recommends residents have a plan in place and have a way to stay tuned to their local weather authority for alerts.

time again to have plan in place
