Warren County firefighters’ quick response saves home

Warren County firefighters responded to a fire at a residence on Tower Drive Saturday morning.
At 7:24 a.m. a call came into Vicksburg Warren 911 reporting a fire at a residence on Tower Drive. The homeowner, Alice Hebler, reported that she turned on the upstairs heat for the “first time in a while.” A couple of minutes later another person staying at the residence said they smelled smoke and called 911.
Longtime Warren County firefighter Timothy Wood lives about a mile and a half from the Tower Drive residence and was the first to arrive. He was directed to the upstairs area. “I arrived on scene, went upstairs and found fire coming out of a vent. I came down, got a ladder and a fire extinguisher, went back up and made access to the fire and put it out.”
Homeowner Hebler noted, “they got here quick.”
Firefighters cleared the area around the vent and the home suffered minor damage to the vent and surrounding area. Power was cut to the upstairs heating unit.
Fisher Ferry and Culkin firefighters along with engines 302 and 303 responded to the fire along with a Warren County Sheriff’s deputy.
