An outside fire has been reported in the 3800 block of Freetown Road in Bovina. This is one of a string of outdoor fires which have been taxing Warren County firefighters lately.

Multiple outside fires have been reported recently, as many as eight fires on Sunday. Warren County firefighters have been stretched to their limits putting out the rapidly spreading grass and brush fires.

FireBoss Jerry Brigg issued a plea over the weekend for people to stop any outside burning.

“This time of year all the vegetation is dead and dry, the wind is high, humidity is low and it is a perfect situation for an outside fire to spread,” said Briggs. “Please refrain from burning anything outside until conditions improve.”

To help address the issues the county is facing regarding the amount of outdoor fires, Warren County has issued a burn ban which is to remain in effect until Mar. 7.
