First responders with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office and the Warren County Fire Department made a water rescue this morning when they rescued an individual trapped inside a vehicle on a flooded roadway.

The vehicle was located on Paxton Road at Old Highway 27 when it became submerged in floodwaters due to the heavy rains on Tuesday, Jan. 14.

The incident is a perfect example of the adage “Turn Around; Don’t Drown.” Especially during periods of heavy rain, do not attempt to drive through standing water. It’s impossible to tell just how high water on a roadway might be. Better to turn around than drown.
