Warren County approved for FEMA public assistance following June tornadoes

Governor Reeves confirmed on Friday that Warren County, along with eleven other counties, has been granted eligibility for federal public assistance due to the severe tornadoes and weather conditions experienced in June. During the week of June 14-19, Mississippi was hit by an unprecedented 18 tornadoes, culminating in a total of 19 for the entire month.
This approval by FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) for Disaster 4727 means that Warren County and the other newly-listed counties can now access the necessary federal resources to help with the aftermath of the severe weather events. With this recent addition, the total number of counties in Mississippi eligible for federal public assistance has risen to 28, also inclusive of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians.
The latest counties to gain FEMA approval for public assistance are Adams, Amite, Attala, Franklin, Greene, Holmes, Humphreys, Itawamba, Jones, Perry, Warren and Yazoo.
