Warren County man dead in Eagle Lake accident
At 12:51 p.m. Sunday, a call came into the E-911 call center of a single vehicle accident on Highway 465 at the Steele Bayou bridge.
The first officials to arrive on scene found an older model pick-up truck that had left the westbound roadway and came to a stop in the brush adjacent the bridge. The driver of the vehicle was unconscious. Four passengers in the vehicle sustained injuries ranging from bruises to broken bones. All four passengers were transported to Merit Health River Region to be treated for non-life threatening wounds.
Warren County Deputy Coroner Kelda Bailess was called to the scene and declared the driver dead.
Mississippi Highway Patrol is leading the investigation of the accident, which occurred just inside the Issaquena County boundary.
First on the scene was E-911 Director Shane Garrard and deputies with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office. Also assisting were Warren County Fire Coordinator Jerry Briggs, Eagle Lake Fire Chief Chris Libbey, City of Vicksburg Rescue, two Fire Medic Units, Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace, and numerous Mississippi Highway Patrol troopers including Sgt.
