A Warren County man is in custody after a call to 911 led to the discovery of a dead body at his residence.

Just after 10 p.m. on Monday, authorities were alerted to a possible deceased body at a home  in the 200 block of Leland Drive.

Warren County deputies responded to the call and arrived to find Sheila Marie Hedrick, 48, dead. Sheriff Martin Pace stated she was found with at least one gunshot wound.

Several hours later, authorities arrested John Shoemaker, 62, and charged him with first degree murder. Shoemaker’s relationship to Hedrick is unknown at this time. Each listed the same address as their place of residence.

Shoemaker is currently housed in the Claiborne County Jail due to no room at the Warren County Jail. He is expected to make his initial appearance in court Tuesday.

The investigation into this case is ongoing. Lt. Stacey Rollinson and Detective Todd Dykes are leading the investigation.
