Monday around 10 p.m., a man was shot at the Azalea Trace Apartments at 320 Fisher Ferry Road.

Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said the man was shot “while sitting on the couch in his own apartment.”

The 24-year-old victim, who has yet to be identified, was transported to Merit Health River Region with a single gunshot wound to his right flank and later airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. As of last night, the wound did not appear to be life-threatening, Pace indicated.

“We don’t have any idea at this point if he was the target or whether he was, whether his apartment was mistaken. It appears at this time that there was more than one shot fired into the apartment,” Pace said.

“We don’t have any suspects at this time.”

This is an ongoing investigation. If you have any information about this shooting, please call the Warren County Sheriff’s Department at 601-636-1761 or Crime Stoppers at  601-355-TIPS (8477) or log on to https://www.p3tips.com/116.
