The Warren County Board of Supervisors recessed its Monday meeting until Thursday to possibly reopen churches and county facilities and loosen other restrictions in its last COVID-19 resolution.

New guidance is expected Wednesday from the Mississippi State Department of Health and potentially the governor’s office. The board also wants input from county department heads.

District 5 Supervisor Kelle Barfield asked the board for recommendations for reopening churches considering the City of Vicksburg’s allowed them to reopen Sunday. District 1 Supervisor Ed Herring said he has a problem with dictating what churches can and can’t do.

All seemed to be in agreement that guidance should be the form of strong recommendations regarding masks, social distancing and other preventive measures.

County Administrator Loretta Brantley is scheduling a conference call Thursday for all county department heads and elected officials for a discussion on modifying current procedures and potential reopening of county facilities and offices.
