Warren County reports one new COVID-19 case Thursday

Thursday, the Mississippi State Department of Health reports one new COVID-19 case in Warren County. The cumulative number of cases in the county is 159, and the county’s death toll from the virus stands at seven, including five residents of long-term care facilities. The county has 37 cases in one long-term facility under investigation.
Statewide, MSDH reports 328 new COVID-19 cases Thursday, bringing the total cumulative confirmed cases in Mississippi to 14,372.
MSDH also reports 23 additional Mississippians died of COVID- 19, bringing the number of deaths in the state to 693.

Deaths and new cases were reported as of 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 27. MSDH reports new statistics on the COVID-19 coronavirus each morning based on the previous day’s testing and death reports.
MSDH has estimated the number of people who can be presumed recovered from COVID-19 in Mississippi. That number is 9,401 through Sunday, May 24, and represents about 65.4% of the cumulative 14,372 cases reported as of Thursday, May 27. This figure will be updated weekly.
Based on the number of cases reported Thursday, May 7, in Warren County (90), the estimated number of people presumed recovered is 83, with 76 active cases.
These estimates are based on MSDH’s guidelines for calculating estimated recoveries when hospitalizations are not known, using the number of cases 21 days ago, less known outcomes (deaths).
As of Thursday, 449 Mississippians are hospitalized with confirmed cases of COVID-19 (a big increase of 73 patients overnight), and another 145 patients are hospitalized with suspected infections. Of those hospitalized, 148 are critically ill and in intensive care units and 78 are on ventilators.
