VICKSBURG, Miss. — Warren County residents may be entitled to a share of more than $64 million in unclaimed money, according to Warren County Chancery Clerk Beverly Johnson.

“If you’re wondering whether the State of Mississippi owes you money, please call me at 601-636-4415,” Johnson said. “The State Treasurer’s office has provided me with a list of Warren County residents who have unclaimed money, totaling over $64 million.”

Johnson urged residents to check their eligibility by visiting the State Treasurer’s website at treasury.ms.gov. From there, users can navigate to “For Citizens,” select “Unclaimed Money,” and click “Begin Your Search.”

“I encourage you to take a moment to call me or visit the website to check for yourself,” Johnson said. “If you have or had a business, be sure to check that name as well.”

Johnson has been making phone calls to notify individuals, but outdated contact information has made it difficult to reach some. Residents who find their names on the website and see an amount listed as “More than $100” can call her office to determine the exact amount they are owed.

“The highest amount on the list for a single person is $64,831.86, while the lowest is $50,” Johnson said. “Remember, it doesn’t cost anything to claim your money.”
