Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said as of 8:45am Saturday morning, the major situation in Warren County is the cleanup of the multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 20 at the 17 mile marker. Officials are working to remove an overturned 18 wheeler at that location.

Vehicle traffic is attempting to detour onto Highway 80 and many of the 18 wheelers can’t make it under the bridge over the Big Black.

Pace said city, county and state road crews are continually putting sand and slag on bridges.

Warren County Fire Coordinator Jerry Briggs said the Yazoo River Bridge was slagged within the past hour. Briggs has been out throughout the night dealing with accidents on Interstate 20 including one with a fatality.

Both officials encouraged area residents to make preparations for a several-day weather event and only get out if absolutely necessary.
