Warren County school COVID totals as of Jan. 28

The Mississippi Department of Health has reported COVID-19 numbers for some area schools as of Jan. 28.

The following schools have reported new cases of students with COVID-19:

• Academy of Innovation
• Beechwood Elementary
• Bovina Elementary
• Bowmar Avenue Elementary School
• Redwood Elementary
• River City Early College
• Vicksburg Catholic
• Vicksburg High School
• Vicksburg Intermediate School
• Vicksburg Junior High School
• Warren Central High School
• Warren Central Junior High School
• Warrenton Elementary

Of the schools reporting, Bowmar Elementary, Vicksburg High School and Warren Central High School have seen six new positive COVID-19 cases among students. Vicksburg High School has reported eight new COVID-19 positive staff members.

Other schools list a range of 1-5 to help protect student and staff identity. Exact totals are not available via this report.

Since the beginning of January, Vicksburg Catholic shows the highest total among students who have contracted COVID-19 with 68 total cases. Redwood Elementary has seen the highest total of students quarantined since January, reporting a total of 26 students.

These totals come shortly after a mandatory quarantine period was set in place by VWSD to help reduce the spread. Mask mandates are still in place throughout their schools.
