Deputies with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Jackson man last night following a carjacking in the City of Jackson.

Johnathan Williams, 22, was arrested without incident following a traffic stop on Interstate 20 westbound near the scales, said Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace.

Jackson Police notified the Sheriff’s Office that OnStar was tracking the 2016 Buick Williams’ had stolen on the interstate, which was moving slowly due to an accident. Pace and several deputies used the slow-moving traffic to surround Williams and take him into custody.

Sheriff Pace said officers found a .25-caliber handgun on the seat beside Williams at the time of the arrest.

In addition to the carjacking charge in Jackson, Williams has been charged with possession of a stolen vehicle in Warren County. Williams and the vehicle have been turned over to the Jackson Police Department.
