Washington and Jones have been named as head coaches in Tallulah

Levi Washington and Kevin Jones have been named as head coaches in the Madison Parish School District.
Levi Washington:
Madison High School has been named as his new head coach, as this will be his second stint with the program.
“I’m excited to be back here, and I feel like I have some unfinished business, and I want to take the program to the furthest it’s ever been in the school’s history,” Washington said.
Washington, a Tallulah native, played varsity football at McCall Senior High School, where his father was the coach. He went on to become a four-year starter at Grambling State University, where the Tigers won three Black College National Championships.
Washington coached at MHS from 2014-2017 before spending the last five years as the offensive coordinator at Wossman and Richwood High School. He has now found his way back home and is ready to lead the Jaguars.
“A big goal we have is to bring some winning pride back into the community and reach the playoffs this season,” Washington said.
Washington is now in the middle of summer training with his team, preparing them for the upcoming season where he plans to lead them to success.
“We’re going to get stronger and put a lot of work in to get to where we need to be,” Washington added.
Kevin Jones:
Jones will be the new head coach of Madison Middle School.
“It’s exciting, and I didn’t feel a sense of pressure or anything, and it’s a blessing to be the blueprint and prepare the young guys for high school,” Jones said.
Jones, also a Tallulah native, played under Washington at MHS, where he starred at quarterback. He went on to play safety and cornerback at the University of Louisiana Monroe.
Fresh out of college, Jones is prepared to lead his young team to new heights as he steps into his new role.
“I want to leave this program better than I got it and bring back the winning culture and have everyone excited about football again,” Jones added.
Jones will also be helping out with the high school team, primarily on defense in the secondary.
The Jaguars will begin their football season in just a little over a month.
