WATCH: Claiborne County unveils new law enforcement vehicles
A ceremony took place on Friday at Port Gibson City Hall to usher in new vehicles for the Claiborne County Sheriff Department. Afterwards, Sheriff Goods allowed Vicksburg Daily News a chance to enjoy a ride in one of the new vehicles.
Officials from Claiborne County were joined by neighboring law enforcement agencies to show support.
“One of the things that we pride our self on here at the Claiborne County Sheriff Department is looking good. When you look good, you feel good,” stated Sheriff Goods. “I think now with the show of force, with everything we’re putting in place and how we’re trying to move Claiborne County forward, this is a new standard.”

Port Gibson Mayor Willie White spoke in support of Claiborne County and stated that the relationship between agencies are vital in moving forward.
“It was imperative that we start from the beginning in making sure that we have collaborative efforts because that’s the only way we are going to raise this community,” White stated. “We’re trying to produce all the necessary resources to where they can be able to have safety here. We’re working on beautification, just working on an overall uplift of Port Gibson and Claiborne County.”
In closing, White said the statement made today shows citizens that progress is on the way.
