An elderly driver has been transported to the hospital for treatment following a wreck in which their vehicle overturned in Warren County.
Just after 10 a.m., authorities were dispatched to Highway 61 South near LeTourneau for a wreck that was reported to have involved a driver trapped in a car that had caught fire.
The driver, and elderly individual, was traveling south on Highway 61 when the vehicle left the roadway and overturned in the wooded embankment.
When the first responders arrived on scene, they reported that the driver was out of the vehicle. It is unclear if they were able to exit on their own or did so with assistance, however the driver was alert and cooperative with EMTs on the scene. They would later be transported to Merit Health River Region for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Although fire was reported in the initial call, it has not been confirmed that the car was actually ablaze. Several agencies responded to this incident, including Fire Coordinator Jerry Briggs, Vicksburg Fire Department, and the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.See a typo? Report it here.
