Water Is Back On for Almost Everyone
It was down a hill, hidden in a gully, covered in trees and foliage from Saturday’s storm. The leak was a 12-inch water line that is one of three main lines that feed the southern parts of the city.

But a boil water notice exists for at least 24 hours for those affected. The area impacted is basically anyone south of Oasis Pools on Pemberton Boulevard. Imagine a big triangle with Oasis Pools as a starting point, from there, on a map, go southeast on Halls Ferry and Warrenton Road to the West. If you are in that triangle play it safe and boil your water until further notice.
It took over an hour to find the leak because of its remote location. It was down a hill, hidden in a gully, covered in trees and foliage from Saturday’s storm. The leak was a 12-inch water line that is one of three main lines that feed the southern parts of the city. Since it was one of three lines the quick thinking city employees were able to reroute the water so the loss to customers was minimal. Rerouting the water would shut down a couple of businesses at Pemberton and 61 South so a temporary water line was run to those businesses in an effort to keep them open.
Additionally, the Yokena-Jeff Davis Water District in Vicksburg has issued a system-wide boil water notice affecting approx. 864 customers due to the water line break.
