WC advances to the second round after a 30-21 win over D’lberville

Warren Central High School, under head coach Josh Morgan, advanced to the second round of the playoffs after a 30-21 win over D’lberville on Friday.

The Vikings were able to get scores from two rushing touchdowns by TJ Thompson, while Mark Gray rushed for one. Brandon Gilliam knocked down three key field goals from 47, 43 and 40 yards out.

Quarterback Jack Wright had a successful night passing by going 13 of 19 for 172 yards. He connected with Preston Lynch four times who had 41 yards, while teammate Trey Hall finished with 37 yards.

Gilliam’s kicking performance only got better throughout the night as he was able to put the Warriors in bad field position by kicking six touchbacks.

Floyd Davenport led things defensively with seven tackles.

WC will move on to play Brandon on Friday.
