Warren Central High School boy’s basketball team came away with a 63-58 win over Jim Hill on Tuesday night.

“I’m extremely proud and we fought to the very end,” WC Head Coach Keith Williams said. I was mostly impressed with us not blaming each other when we made mistakes and we fought through adversity.”

Deonta Segrest popped the game off with a 3-pointer along with a few shots from Lazaveon Sylvester to take a 19-9 first quarter lead.

Jim Hill got back in the game during the second quarter and cut the Vikings’ lead to 31-30 by halftime.

Coming out of halftime, Gaylon Turner knocked down multiple free throws as well as Segrest but JH was able to tie things at 45 by the end of the third quarter.

The Vikings and Tigers went back-to-back in the fourth quarter as Padre Gray Jr. stepped in to drop a couple of buckets. Jonathan Henderson also got WC on the board late in the game and Dameon White hit a couple of free throws in the win.

Sylvester and Turner led with 17 points each while Henderson dropped 10 and Segrest put up nine points. Gray also finished with seven points and multiple assists.

WC will host Ridgeland on Tuesday.
