WC cross country team dedicated Saturday’s race to Eliza Fletcher
Warren Central High School cross country team honored Eliza Fletcher on Saturday by wearing headbands and dedicating the race to the the fallen teacher who was abducted and murdered as she jogged on the University of Memphis campus.
“This was such a tragic event that has effected all running communities in so many ways,” WC Head Coach Nicole Solis said. “The kids felt the need to pay tribute to this wonderful teacher, mother, runner and wife.”
Clinton High School cross country team also dedicated the race to Fletcher.
Cleotha Abston has been charged with Fletcher’s murder, but people from all over the country has shown remorse in this tragic event.
The high school boys came in second place and below are some of the top performers from Saturday’s race:
Matt Brewer (11th) got 5th overall with a time of 18:59. Top five boys were Matt Brewer, Holt Pownall, Aiden Dickerson, John Austin White, and Will Bates. Cora Lindsay (7th) got second overall on the 2 mile course with a time of 14:14. Cara Beth Hearn (7th grade) got 8th overall with a time of 15:44.
