WC crushed St. Martin 10-0 in game one
Warren Central High School’s softball team crushed St. Martin 10-0 on Thursday in game one of the playoffs.
“This put us on the right foot and all of us are going to come out Saturday and hit a lot more,” Jenn Smith said.
The Lady Vikes got on the board first from a wild pitch to go up 1-0.
Adalyn Anderson got a crucial hit in the second and stole a couple of bases. She would eventually earn a run after Lola Crozier sacrificed. Makayla Jackson would be next to earn a hit followed by a double from Jenn Smith that brought in another run.
The Lady Vikes would pick up six runs in the third inning starting with a single from Abby Morgan followed by three walks. Smith would then hit another double to bring in two more runs while Mary Evelyn Hossley hit a single to put the score at 9-0 heading into the fourth.
In the fourth inning, Kamryn Morson reached on an error and Crozier closed things out with a hit as she picked up her third RBI on the night.
“Coach McGivney has been speaking about focus and energy so I stayed focused and I knew what Abby was going to throw so I made the right adjustments,” Crozier said.
Smith had two doubles with three RBIs while Crozier finished with one hit and three RBIs. Jackson went 2 for 2 with one RB while Hossley, Morgan, and Anderson each had a hit.
“This is a really good strong start for us and we’re aiming for that second round,” Anderson said.
Morgan only allowed one hit and struck out four batters.
WC will travel to St. Martin on Saturday.
