WC defeated Florence 5-2 on Saturday

Warren Central High School softball team defeated Florence 5-2 on Saturday morning at Hinds Community College.
“We had a slow start at the beginning but Abby began to pitch herself out of some jams and we didn’t really start hitting until after the third inning but all in all it wasn’t a bad game,” WC head coach Dana McGivney said.
By the second inning, Morgan sent three batters back to the dugout after a nice catch by Adalyn Anderson. Kayleigh Karel would single in the second and eventually stole second base but the score remained 1-0 heading into the third.
Florence got on the board again in the fourth inning to go up 2-0 but WC would turn things around once they went up to bat.
Morgan popped things off with a triple followed by a single from Kamryn Morson that led to a run score by Kennedi McKay. Kayleigh Karel soon got a hit that went right into the pitcher’s shin and Tyra Bridges scored off a passed ball. Lola Crozier also got a RBI.
The Lady Vikes would go up 5-2 after a single from Anderson, a double by Makayla Jackson as well as a RBI from Sarah Cameron Fancher along with nice hits by Jenn Smith and Crozier.
Morgan finished the game off by striking out Florence’s final batter in the fifth and she finished with six strikeouts in the win.
WC will play Brookhaven today at 5:00 p.m.
