WC defeats VHS 11-2 on Monday

Warren Central’s softball team got a big 11-2 victory over Vicksburg on Monday night.
“They played pretty well and we stuck to the game plan and Abby pitched well,” head coach Dana McGiveny said. “We had a couple of bad errors but defensively we did really good but I’m happy about how we’re playing going into district.”
Sarah Cameron Fancher got things going for WC with a big hit where Jenn Smith ran in for the score.
The Lady Vikes came out swinging hard in the second inning when Lola Crozier doubled followed by a RBI by Makayla Jackson. Jenn Smith and Mary Evelyn Hossley would both get big hits that resulted in scores to advance the lead to 4-0.
The score would remain the same until the fifth inning where Annalyn Nevels doubled and Crozier sacrificed to increase the Lady Vikes’ lead.
By the sixth inning, WC was up 9-0 until Lexi Kistler singled on a fly ball and the Missy Gators got on the board for the first time and J Grace would eventually bring in another score.
Big hits by Abby Morgan, Kamryn Morson, and Tyra Bridges in the final inning would help WC take the 11-2 win over the Missy Gators.
Morson led WC with three hits hits while Jackson, Fancher, Smith, and Bridges all had two hits. Bridges and Fancher also had two RBIs each on the night.
Averi and Charli VanNorman got a hit while Lexi and Lili Kistler both had one as well.
Abby Morgan struck out eight batters in the win and only allowed four hits.
