WC fell short 3-2 in game one of the championship series

Warren Central High School baseball team fell short in game one in a 3-2 loss to George County on Wednesday.

Vikings’ pitcher Conner Watkins kept the game tight as he pitched six innings where things stayed scoreless until the fourth inning. After Cade Fairley nailed a hit, Hayes Loper stepped up to put WC on the board from a single. Things didn’t stop there as Trace Hood put the Vikings up 2-0 after a hit.
WC’s success would be short-lived once George County’s Harvard smashed a double and a two-run single to tie the game at 2-2. A late sacrifice in the sixth helped the Rebels take the 3-2 lead and gave the Vikings one chance to tie the game heading into the final inning.
WC’s final batters couldn’t get on base as the Vikings took the loss.

Hood went 2 for 2 while Loper(1 RBI), Lester Martin and Fairley all had one hit. Watkins struck out three batters and allowed zero walks.
The Vikings will have another chance to stay alive as they will face GC again on Friday at 4 p.m.
