WC got a 42-41 overtime win against Oak Grove on Friday
Warren Central High School football team got a upset victory over Oak Grove on Friday in a 42-41 overtime win.
Big plays by both teams controlled the night as Oak Grove struck first by going up 10-0. The Vikings responded with a 13-yard touchdown by Trey Hall and freshman Jonah Artman nailed a 35-yard field goal to tie the game.
Hall would eventually get another touchdown run but the Viking defense would score twice late in the game beginning with Zack Evans returning a fumble for a touchdown.
Quarterback Jack Wright connected with Maddox Lynch for a 62-yard pass to setup a 25-yard field goal by Artman.
As the Warriors’ quarterback went back to pass late in the fourth quarter, Ronnie Blossom grabbed the interception and returned it for a touchdown for over 50 yards to put WC up 34-24.
Oak Grove managed to make it down the field into WC’s territory and got a field goal which put the score at 34-27 with WC leading. An onside kick would give the Warriors the ball back and they eventually scored a touchdown on fourth down to force the game to go into overtime.
Oak Grove got in the end zone first from a pass and went up 41-34.
WC did everything but lose faith on their next possession, and out of nowhere Wright hit Lynch for the touchdown pass. He then connected with Lynch again for the two-point conversion which gave WC the win as they opened up district play with a victory.
