WC knocked off Germantown 28-13 on Friday
Warren Central High School football team took down Germantown 28-13 on Friday night.
The Vikings popped things off early by forcing a fumble which put them within short yards of a touchdown. Trey Hall would get WC on the board with a one yard touchdown as they went up 6-0.
The Mavericks were able to move the ball down the field and attempted a long pass but it was broken up by Trey Sanders. Germantown completed a big pass on the next play that put them inside the ten yard line which eventually led to a three yard touchdown and the Mavericks went up 7-6.
A lightning delay would have both teams waiting awhile before hitting the field again.
After nearly an hour, both teams hit the field with just a short time to play before halftime. Quarterback Jack Wright hit Mark Gray Jr to get into Germantown territory. Sophomore Eric Collins Jr also got a handoff to pickup some positive yards as WC stayed with the run game.
A pass interference call put WC inside the 30 yard line but the Vikings failed to score on that drive.
WC’s defense held up on the next drive and eventually scored on a three yard run by Darius Carter after Wright got a pass off to Maddox Lynch. Hall got the two-point conversion as they went up 14-7.
Still in the third quarter as the Viking defense did their job well, Wright handed the ball to Collins where he ran for a 57 yard touchdown and WC led with a 21-7 score.
Ronnie Blossom came out on defense with a key stop as he tripped up Germantown’s quarterback followed by a big hit by Ishmael Trujillo and Demarcus Jones.
After a long catch by Germantown, they would score from a one yard run to cut WC’s lead to 21-13 in the fourth quarter.
With five minutes left in the game, the Mavericks found themselves ready to score again but Sanders picked off a pass and took it to the house for 99 yards which led to the 28-13 WC victory.
The Vikings are now 3-0 and will have a bye week next week.
