WC knocked off North Pike 20-0; VHS takes a 12-0 loss to Laurel

Warren Central High School football team defeated North Pike 20-0 in a scrimmage on Friday.

The Viking defense came out strong and didn’t allow NP to move the ball beyond midfield. On the second play of the game, Ronnie Blossom grabbed a sack which forced a fumble where Ben McMullin picked it up and ran it in for a 36-yard touchdown.

Eric Collins Jr. and Aiden Greer controlled the running game for WC in the first half as they maintained the 6-0 lead as Nash Morgan and Ryan Nelson took the snaps at qb.

Coming out in the second half, Harber Williams stepped up on both sides of the ball as he threw a 65-yard touchdown to Johnathan Wilson that helped the Vikings go up 12-0. Pierre Marshall ran for a 6-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter and Fred Mixon ran in the 2-point conversion to end things with a final score of 20-0.

Marshall and  Neomiah Brown both ran the ball well in the second half.

WC will play Clinton in the Red Carpet Bowl on Friday.

VHS:

Vicksburg High School took a 12-0 loss to Laurel.

Demarcus Johnson had three tackles and a sack while Cedrick Blackmore ran the ball well by racking up over 50 yards.

Laurel capitalized off of the Gators’ mistakes, including a scoop and score.

VHS Head Coach Christopher Lacey testified that he still saw good things and a good future for the Gators, despite the loss.

The JV team won 14-7 where Daquan Warfield scored two touchdowns.

VHS will host Holmes County Central on Friday.
