WC ninth grade basketball team finished with a 44-42 win over VHS

Warren Central High School ninth grade boy’s basketball team came out with a close 44-42 win over Vicksburg on Monday.

As Micah Moore managed to earn some easy layups inside the paint, WC took a 12-6 first quarter lead. Brycen Jones got VHS on the board a few times in the second quarter while Joshua Porter, KJ Wynn and Deric Gibbs came away with shots for WC.

Davon O’Neal contributed in the second half for WC but Jones stepped up to keep the game tight for VHS as the score sat at 32-23 heading into the fourth quarter. The Gators made a comeback in the fourth as Jordan Clay knocked down a 3-pointer and Marlyn Foy hit a couple of shots. WC managed to stay on top by knocking down nine free throws in the final quarter to take the win.

Gibbs and Moore both finished with 11 points for WC while Wynn put up nine and O’Neal added eight. Jones had 18 points for VHS and Foy contributed eight while Clay put up seven.
